The Femlin character was first introduced in the pages of Playboy in 1955 when Hugh Hefner decided that the magazine’s Party Jokes section needed a graphic element. Created and drawn by artist LeRoy Neiman, her name is a combination of “female" and “gremlin,” highlighting her mischievous and playful nature. The High-Heeled Femlin was published in February 2004.
